Hug a Horse Event

Join us for our third Hug a Horse event! Designed to get you up close and personal with our rescue horses. Here’s your chance to learn about their journeys, how we care for them and find them forever homes!

Visit with us, groom a horse, feed them carrots and take a ride! Come spend some time with these loving animals and learn about our mission to save America's horses from slaughter.

Suggested donation: Adults $15, $5 for children under 18

(Rides available for ages 6 and up - with additional donation).

"Getting Ahead Of The Curve", USHWR's 1st Annual Rescuers' Summit on Keeping America's Horses Safe

Join US Horse Welfare and Rescue at our 1st "Getting Ahead of The Curve” as a host of equine professionals, equine rescuers and equine advocates discuss the welfare and safety of America’s equines. This group will be working to derive both short term and long term solutions to keeping our horses from abuse and slaughter during this 2 day summit. Join us as we examining the current issues that threaten America’s horses. Discussions will include everything from hay banks, gelding clinics, branding, microchipping, educational components and keeping horses in place to working with trainers/owners of On TrackThoroughbreds, interception of equines prior to auction, effectively working on Legislation in ANY state, passing the SAFE Act, how can a 501(c)3 legally lobby and even the difficult topic of euthanasia for the unwanted horse. If it has to do with keeping America’s horses safe we will discuss it!

Saturday will begin with panel discussions regarding these topics by some of the better known East Coast rescuers, equine veterinarians, state legislators, lobbyists, ASPCA representatives and HSUS representatives to name a few. Moderator will be Diana Urban, well known and respected State of Ct Representative for 9 terms and accomplished animal advocate within the legislator.

Dr. Harry Werner, Equine Veterinarian, President AAEP (2009), AAEP Distinguished Life Member will also be a major contributor.

Many other well known, highly knowledgable people and well seasoned 501(c)3 horse rescuers will be in attendance.

3rd Annual “Evening with LittleHouse”


Join us for a delightful evening with LittleHouse, a local band playing all original music by Joe Patrina with a fun filled country rock flare.

Join us at 5:30 to enjoy the full flavor of the evening beginning with light cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, raffles and silent auction items.

All proceeds from the raffle PLUS 50% of all admissions will go directly to US Horse Welfare & Rescue to help save at-risk horses from the slaughter pipeline through our programs and services.
