"Getting Ahead Of The Curve", USHWR's 1st Annual Rescuers' Summit on Keeping America's Horses Safe

  • Avon Free Public Library 281 Country Club Road Avon, CT, 06001 United States (map)

Join US Horse Welfare and Rescue at our 1st summit comprised of equine professionals, equine rescuers and equine advocates from up and down the Eastern US in this 2 day summit conference. The summit is to be held in Avon, CT at the Avon Community enter. We will be examining ways to keep America’s horses out of the auctions and slaughter lots with discussions on everything from hay banks & keeping horses in place to working with trainers/owners of On TrackThoroughbreds to intercept prior to auction, working on State Legislation in your state, passing the SAFE Act, how can a 501(c)3 legally lobby and even the ever difficult topic of euthanasia for the unwanted horse. If it has to do with keeping America’s horses safe we will discuss it!

Saturday will begin with panel discussions regarding these topics by some of the better known East Coast rescuers, equine veterinarians, state legislators, lobbyists, ASPCA representatives and HSUS representatives to name a few. Moderator will be Diana Urban, well known and respected State of Ct Representative for 9 terms and accomplished animal advocate within the legislator.

Dr. Harry Werner, Equine Veterinarian, President AAEP (2009) and AAEP Distinguished Life Member will also be a contributor. Many other well known, knowledgable and highly respected individuals and established 501(c)3 rescuers will also be contributors to this highly important topic.
