AWARENESS & ADVOCACY
Let’s do our Part
It is the goal of USHWR and USHWR-NC to provide horse owners, horse welfare advocates and the general public with as much educational information as we can in an effort to create the necessary awareness to make systemic changes in the treatment of America’s equines. We believe that our tolerance for abuse, neglect and horse slaughter stems from a basic lack of knowledge. Take the journey with us, get involved, and help us stamp out the unnecessary cruelty and the underground horse slaughter pipeline.
Evidence of Abuse during Slaughter
In 2005 the USDA conducted an extensive investigation into horse slaughter here in America. In the end they concluded there was no way to humanly slaughter horses due to the nature of horses. It took over 3 years for someone to obtain the USDA’s report under the Freedom of Information Act, although they requested it only a few months after the report was completed. Below are links to 6 files filled with the USDA’s own evidence of the systemic wide spread abuse America’s horses endure within the horse slaughter pipeline. Please keep in mind that what you see in these files was taking place when horse slaughter WAS conducted here on our soil. When people say horse slaughter should be brought back to the U.S. to end the abuse, make the journey shorter, etc please point them to these files. Extensive evidence points to tremendous abuse of our horses as soon as they leave the owner’s loving arms, at auction lots, at kill buyers’ lots and of course in the end, at the slaughter lots. It is our firm position that horse slaughter is never to be reopened here in the US and we MUST stop the sale and transport of America’s wild and domestic horses for slaughter. HELP US HELP THEM. GET INVOLVED TODAY.
US Horse Welfare and Rescue National Coalition
On April 12, 2019, USHWR softly launched the US Horse Welfare and Rescue National Coalition, a coalition with one goal: to STOP the inhumanity suffered by our equines through abuse, neglect, and slaughter. Several of us have been working behind the scenes preparing for something bigger….and we hope you are ready to join this movement.
BECOME A PART OF SOMETHING BIGGER THAN YOURSELF, BECOME A PART OF THE MOVEMENT, JOIN THE COALITION TODAY. #ALL4HORSES
