Our equine partners are HEROES too
Each of our horses at USHWR has a story to tell. Some were sent to auction and narrowly avoided slaughter. Others had loving families who could no longer care for them. And some were neglected and in need of ongoing and expensive health care.
These amazing horses have been saved, and today they help heal children, veterans and those living with varied abilities, through our community enrichment programs. They rely on us, but we also rely on them. Through your generous support we are able to feed and care for these horses so their lives are long and happy.

2020: Finn came to us malnourished and in need of a great deal of love and medical care.
2024: Finn, now in his late 20s, is known as our “cuddler.” Finn is currently healthy, happy, and loves to be as close to people and his horse friends as possible.
The cost of hay
Just like human food, rising fuel costs, a changing global market and high demand, the price of hay has increased, driving up the overall care of our equine family. That’s one of many reasons why we need your help.
Any donation, big or small, is appreciated!
*Hay prices are approximate and change with the market fluctuations. Our horses are also fed grain and other nutritious meals.
